Environmental & Sustainability Policy

1. Our Commitment

At Herstory Beauty Academy, we recognise our responsibility to protect the environment and promote sustainability within our operations, curriculum, and community. As an education provider, we are committed to embedding environmental awareness into our teaching and minimising our environmental impact wherever possible.

We aim to lead by example and inspire learners to make conscious, sustainable choices in both their personal and professional lives.

2. Key Principles

We are guided by the following principles:

  • Reduce waste, energy use, and unnecessary consumption

  • Reuse resources and materials wherever practical

  • Recycle and dispose of waste responsibly

  • Respect the planet and promote environmental education

3. Actions We Take

Herstory Beauty Academy is actively working to reduce its environmental footprint through:

  • Digital-first approach – prioritising paperless teaching, online learning materials, and electronic communication

  • Eco-conscious product use – choosing cruelty-free, vegan, and sustainable beauty brands where possible

  • Waste minimisation – reducing single-use plastic and encouraging recycling in our learning environment

  • Energy efficiency – switching off unused equipment and using energy-efficient lighting

  • Green travel – promoting car-sharing, public transport, and walking for staff and learners

  • Responsible purchasing – sourcing supplies from ethical and sustainable providers

4. Embedding Sustainability in Learning

We believe education plays a powerful role in shaping future behaviour. Our tutors embed sustainability into lessons by:

  • Encouraging learners to consider eco-friendly alternatives in their beauty practice

  • Discussing the environmental impact of products and processes

  • Raising awareness of industry trends such as green beauty, refill stations, and responsible salon ownership

5. Responsibilities

All staff and learners are expected to take reasonable steps to support this policy and promote sustainability in their day-to-day activities.
The Academy will provide the tools, resources, and training to support this commitment.

6. Monitoring & Review

This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant and reflects current best practice. Feedback is welcomed and can be submitted via the contact form or by emailing info@herstorybeautyacademy.com.

Together, we can make a meaningful impact — one action at a time.
